IOS7 no sound on video and skype, but sound on voice memos

Hi!

I have looked and looked, red dozens of pages on the topic of "no sound on video" in IOS7, but to no avail.

So here I am, with video that records but no sound playback, merely a noise. This is true for other video apps I have. The phone kype app cannot be used hands free either, meaning I am not being heard by my.

At the same time, sound recording works fine on voice memos, meaning I can record voice memos and play them back just like normal. I speak with Siri and I can dictate too.

If the mike was out of commission, I would not be able to use it at all, therefore I suspected that there was something wrong with the IOS, because before I could record without any problem. So I did a full restore, but to no avail.

This has been going on for two months now, and at a loss of finding a solution, I decided to add my own "no sound" message to the many ones already out there.

Have you allowed the Skype app to access your microphone ?

It is a new privacy setting in iOS7.

You can change that it by going to

Settings (for iOS, not Skype)

Privacy

Select Micropohone

You should see a list of apps that requested access to the microphone of your device.

Find Skype and enable it with the slider.

If that is not the issue I would suggest to delete the Skype app your iPhone and redownload it from the app store (via purchases history or directly from the app page)

Thanks pour your reply, I had allowed all the apps that are in Privacy>Microphone panel, but that did not work.

At the same time I wonder if there should be a "Photo" app in the same panel, because there isn't and so videos are supposed to be "with sound".

I could delete Skype, but that would not take care of the issue I have with the video recordings and the phone.
