Ipad stuck on "sign into apple id" prompt

I got a new email and changed my apple ID to reflect the new email address. My Imac, Iphone5 and Macbook Pro all had zero issues with the change. My Ipad 2 however is now asking me to log into my apple id that was attached to the old, no longer in use, email. Because the old apple id email is seemingly locked into the ipad, I cannot get past the log in prompt to even attempt to change the information. the log in prompt simply won't go away. I thought a system default reset would help, but it did nothing more than erase all my apps, photos, etc... I'm so frustrated at this point I'm considering throwing it out the window of a moving car.

Can anyone help me?

Try going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
