Q: Airport Extreme Compatible w/Time Capsule To Extend Network?

I have first gen. Time Capsule. Trying to add Extreme in roaming mode but I can not configure. Is Extreme compatible with Time Cap.? I can't install older version of utility as it tells me I have newer version. How can I configure Extreme to roam (ethernet) within my network if I can't configure? If I just connect ethernet from Time Capsule to Extreme will that extend network if I can't configure?

Mac OS X (10.7.3)

    Trying to add Extreme

New "tower" shaped Extreme?  Flat, 'square" Extreme?  Round "dome" shaped Extreme?

Your profiles states that you are using OS X (10.7.3). Is that up to date? If not, what OS are you running?

Extreme is "flying saucer" model. Now using OS X (10.9). I think I now how to hook all this up but how do I configure Extreme without having Utility for that model?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, AirPort Utility in OS X (10.9) does not support the older AirPort Extreme that you have.

In order to configure the older Extreme, you will need....or be able to borrow.....a Mac running Leopard (10.5.x), or Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC with AirPort Utility installed on the device.

That's what I figured. Alway have to buy something new when upgrades happen as useful as they are. Just to be clear, I can get to older OS system; so I want to set it up in "bridge mode" with ethernet from TC plugged into Wan port correct? That will extend my network?

These Apple support documents should provide the answers that you need. If not. post back.

    Bob,

Thanks for your help. I could not get the Extreme to act in a roaming mode but was able to set up a WDS. Speed seems to have improved
