What is current status of the iPod?
Without more information all I can suggest is:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Dec 22, 2013 1:32 PM in response to lllaassby valxmas,when i turn on my ipod show me to connect it to itunes. With the last version of itunes , when i try to restore it, show that an unknown error stoped the recover. With older versions of itunes , the itunes cannot connect with the server.

For update server problem:
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

Dec 22, 2013 3:10 PM in response to lllaassby valxmas,i have check it with itunes 9.2.1 version and when i click the restore button ... THE IPOD SOFTWARE UPDATE SERVER COULD NOT BE CONTACTED.
May be i need a new ipod!!!
