Q: How do you use AirDrop to send to one contact but two devices?

How do you use AirDrop to send to one contact but two devices?  For example, to AirDrop photos to both my Wife's iPhone and mini iPad at the same time?

Here's the AirDrop writeup, including what devices can use it:

You can use AirDrop to two devices, though not exactly "at the same time" (within the same fraction of a second).

Thank you for your prompt response.  I thought it would be possible as well, but I haven't been succesful with it yet.  I attempted to AirDrop several photos to my wife and her contact photo did appear, but only once.  She had both her iPhone and iPad on and awake.  When  selected the one contact photo of hers it sent the invitation to her iPhone only.  I tried again and again and it only sent the invitation to her iPhone in every instance.  I even had her turn her iPhone off a couple of times and then her contact photo did not appear at all.  I have AirDropped photos to her iPad many, many times succesfully.  This is the first time it didn't work.  Her iPhone is brand new, she's only had it for about a week.  This is the first time I've tried to AirDrop to both at the same time.  What steps am I missing?

    Three thoughts:

    1.  The receiving device gets a prompt to accept or decline the content.  So perhaps the receiving device is not acting on this request.

    2.  The sending as well as receiving device must state what contacts are eligible to use AirDrop: None, Contacts Only, or Everyone.  Perhaps one of these settings is incorrect.

    3.  AirDrop is achived by Apple doing something magic relative to setting up a small local network.  It could be that there is an issue involving three devices as a network must have been set up for one pair, then a third device enters the equiation ...

Thought #1 The only receiving device getting the prompt/invitation is my wife's iPhone and not her mini iPad.

#2 Contacts only.  That's the reason my wife's contact picture shows up at all.  All the devices are contacts only.

#3 I've done it before with multiple contacts and one device per contact.  But never one contact and multiple devices.
