Removing Microsoft Mouse USB Tranceiver slowly causes shutdown

Please no Microsoft jokes.

I've only notice this happene just recently. I use a Microsoft Mobile Mouse 6000, and I leave the USB Tranciever plugged in most of the time when I'm not traveling between school and home. When I remove the tranceiver slowly (about 3'ish seconds) the screen of my 2012 Macbook Pro 15" OSX 10.9.1 freezes, turns to static, and shows the "Your computer has encourted a problem" in multiple langues screen, then reboots and sends and error report. The reboot does not happen when I remove the tranceiver at a normal speed.

Does anyone have an idea what's up with this?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
