When did you purchase your T-Mobile unlocked 5s from Apple? It appears that when the 5s was first released the T-Mobile was sold as "contract-free", but was unlocked only if you took it outside the US. Now the Apple website states that the phone is "unlocked and contract-free". Several users who have bought the newer version say that they are able to swap SIMS and carriers inside the US.

Dec 24, 2013 5:23 AM in response to montaser39by FelipeV,Do yourself a favor and stop wasting your money and time:
1. If you want to find out if the phone is really locked and to what carrier, call Apple Care. They might be able to confirm whether the phone is or is not locked and the carrier it is locked to. Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page to find out how to contact Apple Care.
2. Again for the third time; if locked by the carrier you MUST contact the carrier for the unlock. There is no way around this. If you are unable to do this, your phone will not work with a different SIM.
Anything else is pure speculation on yours or anyone else' s part.
