iPad Air - Volume automatically goes down

I've got a new 128GB iPad Air. Right from the start I've noticed that the volume will intermittently decrease (as if someone is actually pushing the volume decrement button) and eventually mute itself.

This can happen when no-one is touching the iPad at all. I've checked that the case isn't touching the volume buttons also.

As per Apple Support's instructions, I've backed it up, performed a full erase & factory reset, and then done a restore. The problem still exists.

The strange thing is that sometimes it can go hours without this happening. At other times the volume is going down every few seconds.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers,

Jocky

If you've done a full erase & factory restore and it still does it despite being in a new "out-of-box" state with no apps or data installed (NOT restored from a backup), I would troubleshoot no more and return it to place of purchase for replacement. Sounds to be a hardware issue (volume down button triggering on it's own and/or overly sensitive) and this should be taken care of with a replacement.
