I have installed the Remote App on my iPhone and enabled home sharing on this and on iTunes on my PC. The Remote App on my iPhone is telling me to open iTunes on my PC and choose Remote from the tab bar but there is no Remote on the tab bar?
The solution can be found here, but the location of the Remote option on the iTunes tab bar is better shown in the Apple Watch example:
This button shows up only after you click Add Device, so is not always visible.

I have the same problem. A far as a can tell, the iTunes app has no "tab bar." I asked folks at the Apple store and they had no idea either.
check the bonjour service is running, check the itunes helper process is running, this worked for me, somehow the itunes helper process was not executed when windows startup
you dont need to do anything in itunes, the library should appear in the Remote app in your device without using the four digit code in itunes

I had the same problem. It was only when I signed out and back in of Home Sharing on both my Mac and my iPhone, AND re-started both did it work.
If you get to the point on your iPhone of having to enter a 4 digit code, something has already gone wrong. At the very least, restart, and see if that helps.
