exclamation point when I double click on some thumbnails

I am getting an exclamation point when I double click on the photo's thumbnail. When I search for some of the files I found out they were moved to a "need to defrag" folder. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Nikodon;

Whatever you do do NOT turn Norton loose on your system. You'll be sorry. It will do nasty things to it.

By first suggestion is to backup. If possible I would suggest cloning the system drive.

If as you have said you ran your system disk down to 0 bytes of free space, you may have damaged the directories on that disk. I would recommend booting from the CD that came with system and running Disk Utilities from there to repair your disk. This may be able to repair the damage don't by insuffient free space. If it is not, you might need a more powerful tool like DiskWarrior to repair the damage.

If DW isn't able to fix this problem, then you will be forced to reformat and reinstall because the damage done is irrecoverable.

cool, ill try that. The funny thing is that some photos in my iphoto library have been moved to a folder called "need to defrag" within my iphoto library?

I actually have a backup of all of my photos, so I may just delete my iphoto library folder and replace it with my backed up iphoto library. Just thought I would make a metion of my problem here to see if anyone else was experiencing this.

Hi Nikodon;

That is another thing about your message that has me confused, you keep talking about a folder called "need to defrag".

I did a search on my system and I am unable to find anything even remotely like that. I am wondering if this is not an artifact from some third party software you installed on your system?

I think if you delete the folder for your iPhoto library that the next time you start iPhoto it will create you a new one. If you then import your backup of the photos into the new library that might be good thing.
