Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number 0x800420CD

Hi,

Email server MAC OSX 10.4.4
Client: Outlook Express 6

One user keeps getting this error in OE:

Message number 1 could not be retrieved. Account 'mail.domain.com', Server 'mail.domain.com',protocol POP3,Server Error Response: 'ERR [SYS/PERM] Could not read message file', Port: 110, Secure [SSL]: Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number 0x800420CD

Looks like one email in server could be corrupted and cannot be downloaded to the client PC. This email seems like telling OUTLOOK Express everytime user click SEND/RECEIVE that he have available unread messages to be downloaded hence it keeps downloading same messages over and over.

I've uncheck leave a message on the server in OE Tools/Account/Mail/Properties/Advance tab, the downloading of previously downloaded messages stopped but error window still pops up.

How could I delete purge all message in the user inbox in the server.

Thanks

Jonnewbie

Um.. I didn't suggest you purge your mail. Look back at your message. You asked how to purge your old mail, I provided the command to view the man page of ipurge and a suggestion to use an IMAP client.

Anyway...
you'll need to provide some information..... can't help without it.

Start with describing the situation. "you aren't getting any email"
Are your mail clients connecting properly or do they recv an error, what type of mail client (POP vs IMAP). What do you see in the logs?

Please provide information on your configuration. A good place to start is the unedited output of the following command run from terminal:
postconf -n

With the above, we can start to troubleshoot.

Hi Jeff,

All incoming mails are not coming through. Clients uses POP, OE or Outlook 2000. Do not know where to start . Thanks for your immediate reply.

One item which could cause this is this line:
smtpd clientrestrictions = permit_mynetworks sbl.spamhaus.org permit

If you want to use the sbl black-list, then change this to:
smtpd clientrestrictions = permit_mynetworks reject rblclient sbl.spamhaus.org permit

Sometimes the ServerAdmin GUI can mis-write the config files and this is probably what happened in your case.

I still can't get it to work. All emails are going out , but no emails can be received . It might have started when I created an account for that user who has one corrupted message that can't be downloaded from his outbox,I created it in apple's mail usiing IMAP as you suggested. When I go to the log using SA I see these
