My son updated his iphone 4 with IOS7.0.4 and now its asking for an Apple ID email and password that weve never heard of before activating. It is second hand, cant remember where he got it though...any ideas would be much appreciated.

Without that Apple ID and password, this phone is useless to you. Most likely, this phone was stolen or lost.

You will need the AppleID of the previous owner or get the previous owner to log into their iCloud account.

Without this, the iPhone will not work.
Thanks for that, the phone definitely wasnt lost or stolen, if anything I THINK (cant remember, hes had it for so long now) it may have been a replacement from the Apple Store for his older brothers previous broken phone, but his brother has no idea what this email/password is...??
