Can´t connect to my Apple TV with my Mac Book.

Hi all,

I have an issue with my Airplay connection and no further ideas.

When Iam trying to connect my Mac Book Pro (late 2013) to my Apple TV (3rd gen) I get a connection error. The Apple TV is visible for the Mac Book. I have updated to the latest software version on both devices. Restart, Wi-Fi on / off, Airplay on / off and much more tips from google I have tried.

With IPhones it works fantastic!!

On my very first try to use AirPlay with the Mac Book it works fine. Every try after that fails. I have reinstalled the MAC Book with Mavericks but nothing has changed. 😟

I wish you a merry Christmas and thanks a lot in advanced!

Regards Paul

Hi all,

I've fixed the described issue.

In my case I had a firewall bug.

Try to disable your firewall for a moment.

If its already disabled turn it on!

But keep an eye on the Firewall options and disable the field "Block all incoming connection".

In any case CHANGE your firewall settings and try it again.

I hope this will help you.

I have the exact same problem. My mac worked connected with no issues the first time now whenever I click to connect to the Apple TV it comes back with 'Could not connect to "Apple TV"'. My phone connects with no issue and i have tried the above steps in reseting my router, checking my internet connection is the same on both devices and checking my firewall, but to no avail.

I am not sure if this is a common problem but any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Airport Express and my Apple TV was plugin to it via Ethernet when I last posted.

After your suggestion I tried to unplug the Apple TV and make it connect to internet through the same Wifi as my MacBookPro. It would still not take AirPlay request from MBP with the same error message 'Could not connect to "Apple TV"'.

All this time my firewall is off.

Anything else that I can try?

I want to thank you for posting about the fire wall. I have been having this issue with my Macbook(early 2011) not being able to go to Apple TV. It would just say "couldn't connect to Apple TV." I even went into an Apple Store asking them yesterday about it since that it's been almost a year since I got my 3rd Generation Apple TV and I wasn't able to mirror(only worked through Itunes which is weird). I could mirror from my Iphone without an issue, it was just something with my Mac. I had turned off the firewall like you said. Turned the mirroring on and it went from my Macbook to my Television without issue. Turned the firewall back on and it worked. So thanks very much.

Repost since my problem is still not fixed.

Well mine works, sort of. I have to turn off the fire wall. Push the mirrioring to the tv and close the firewall and everything works. I've had to do that this whole time. So anytime that I want to mirror, I have to turn off the fire wall, turn on the mirroring and then turn back on the fire wall. I am not sure why this is. I haven't figured the fix out. Now I just annoyed with it.

I'm having the same issue and it's very frustrating.

I have review all of your Churchil's articles, but I couldn't make it work. (my iMac's firewall was already off also)

Within my moments of desperation, I turned OFF NAT at my router and it started to work very good (a little bit slow but it was working), but when the NAT is OFF, I can't connect to the Internet.

I'm not good with networks, so I don't know what I'm doing.

Could this lead someone to another solution for this problem??

Thanks!

Note: my router is a linksys E2500, witch I have read it does not work very good with airplay :s
