Battery stuck at 44%

My batter icon at the top right of my screen reads 44% and won't move from that reading. When I plug it in, the green light appears on the Magsafe as though it is fully charged. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had a similar issue on my MBP, I took it to the
nearest Apple Store, the "Genius" confirmed the
problem with the battery by inserting another known
good battery which immediately began to charge, he
ordered me a battery under the warranty and I went
home, called Apple Care and asked them to ship it to
my house instead of the store. It came a few days
later with a box to return my old one. They required
a credit card number as security until I ship back
the old one.

I have same issue (32%) and I called. He said a power cord, as I had no light on mine! I am being sent one!

What happens if you run without A/C power? I would expect your battery will run down, but not charge. There's been some rumor on these forums about a battery recall.

No muss no fuss.

Ok. So here's an update on my weird battery problem. I ran my computer from the battery until it went to sleep on it's own. At no point did the battery indicator ever say anything but 44%. The battery was too weak to wake from sleep, so I plugged it in. The MagSafe has the orange indicator light now as it should, but the battery indicator doesn't show that the charger is in use. On top of that it still says 44%.

My plan is to let this thing charge for a few hours and see if it has the juice to run from the battery alone. If not I'm taking it in for service under the warranty. Does that sound about right to you guys or is there something else I ought to try? Thanks!
