Lost Photos from iPhone

I had roughly 1,000 photos on my Phone (iPhone 5) and to create space for Video when I last synced this week I didn't select any of the photos temporarily. Now the photos are gone from the phone as expected, but I'm not able to sync them back again from iTunes. Any one with some help on how I get them back again? They don't seem to be in iCloud either. Almost all of my 2 year old son..gutted.

We're you not using the phone as designed and regularly importing the photos to your computer like any other digital camera? If not,t hen unfortunately they are gone. The phone is not design to be a long term storage device.

But I have not 'deleted' any photos per say, just unsynced. You sure it's not like music which you can pick and choose which songs you want on your phone?
