tried to restore my devise to factory settings. But during unwrapping of software the device disappears and can't be found for installation after the "unwrap" process?
Could you help?

Try resetting the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer and then try again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

It goes back to the "cable to iTunes" screen. Where after the same procedure happens again...;-/
- I Connect to iTunes, it finds the iPad, tells me that it needs to be restored, starts to "unwrap" and looses connection Approx. 80% along the way.

Hope you all have/had a nice Christmas. Tried to turn of the firewall/anti virus.
Still same problem. The device disappears from the list during the process - whereafter iTunes tells me that it Can not find The device...
Do you have another free USB port on your computer that you can try using or do you have another computer to use? Does the iPad sync OK and can you backup?
Have you considered simply erasing the device using Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings? Actually I believe that is what Apple recommends before you try restoring to factory settings, not that it's written in stone.
If you are running antivirus software, turn that off temporarily and disable your firewall as well. Try restoring that way.
