Shortcut to Move to Top/Bottom of Sheet?

Here is a link to the online helpf for Number that lists all the shortcuts.

I am not aware of a command to move to the bottom (or top) of a sheet. I suggest using the scroll bar. Another way is to activate a table from the sheet menu.

If you make two single-cell tables and name then "Top" and "Bottom" then position that at the corresponding position on the sheet you can jump there using this menu:

Function key (bottom left of my Macbook keyboard) and down arrow eventually takes me down the Sheet ('Canvas' as in Numbers, not 'Sheet' as in Excel)

Thanks for the tip! Command-Up Arrow and Command-Down Arrow key combinations do work in Numbers 3.

The original poster shows this in their profile:

Mac OS X (10.5.8), Numbers 09 - 2.0.5

Numbers '09 does not obey Command Arrow to move the focus. It tells me off with a 'Tink' sound.

But let's add this key combination as a GAIN for Numbers 3 🙂.

I'm curious if you tried changing the "focus" in a sheet to the bottom (or top) using the key combination you suggested? Those will work in a text box or a table.

It works in a table for me. And I figured that if a sheet is really tall, it's probably because of a long table. So the Command-Up/Down Arrow is a workable solution in many, but not all, situations.

Yes, that's possible, though it seems the concepts of sheet and table are sometimes conflated when talking about the user interface in Numbers. A table in Numbers in many ways resembles a sheet in Excel and other spreadsheet apps.

Here, we're talking about either shifting focus between objects on a sheet canvas, or going to the top or bottom of a long object on the sheet canvas. The effect is similar. I would guess that going to the bottom of a long table is the most common practical problem for most people.

Don't you agree it's helpful to people to explore various ways of achieving navigating around a sheet, while also seeing where Numbers 3 is different from (and perhaps better than) Numbers 2?

Well how about that! Thanks for the tip. It certainly pays to try different things in Numbers 3. There's often more there than meets the eye, or is covered in Help.

(I'm guessing that fn up/down arrow must be the equivalent of Page Up/Down or Home/End, which I don't have on my keyboard.)

Excel has created the concept of spreadsheet document = sheets. Therefore the confusion of sheet = table.
