Additionally, your camera is on the list of devices supported in OS 10.4 on Apple's site here:

So, support for your camera should already be built-in to OS X.

If it doesn't appear as a removable disk on your desktop, and you are sure it is in the right mode to transfer pictures, then you may have something configured wrong either in your camera on your computer.

Most digital cameras automatically with with the Mac.

It is not common to need drivers to make one work with the other.

When you put the camera into "PC" mode, and then plug it in to the computer, it should appear on your desktop as a removable drive.

You should then be able to copy the pictures from it like you would any other disk drive.

Are you making sure that it is in it's "PC" mode?

What exactly is it doing when you plug it in.

You may need drivers. But, it's very rare to need camera drivers with a Mac.

Have you installed the software that came with the camera? Perhaps it had an installer that would place the necessary software on your computer.

It's also possible that the software that came with it is not a "Universal Binary". Meaning that if you have an Intel Mac, that it may or may not work as expected.

The information I found on the Internet says this:

"The DSC-F707 is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.1. If you're using a version prior to 10.1, you'll need to go to the camera's setup menu and change the USB mode to "PTP"."

So, you might even try changing into that mode, and see if that makes any difference.
