iPad Air auto brightness not dimming only increasing

Please help my new iPad Air Auto-Brightness, it is only increasing the brightness when I move from the dark place to the bright place, it isnt decreasing decrease the brightness when I move from bright place to dark place. This is working on my iPhone 5/5S very well but not on iPad Air. Is it normal or defective and need to replace? Anyone has any suggestion . Thank you.
