Long-life Battery replacement
I am looking to replace a battery on a 13 in. MacBook Aluminum 2009 2.4 core 2 duo.
The old battery is a 45Wh Model No. A1280.
What are some good options for long battery life?

Use it properly and calibrate it occasionally http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
and you'll get the longest life available. I would avoid cheap third party batteries regardless of what others here say, I've had poor results.
BTW...the aluminum MacBook is a late 2008 model.
