Turning off iMessage on my iPad mini

You can't use data on the iPad mini to send SMS text messages. You can only use iMessages with other iOS users or with Macs that are running Mountain Lion or Mavericks. There is no way to send a conventional (SMS) text message even with a data plan because the mini is not a phone and does not have phone capabilities.

So if you want to text with the iPad Mini, you have to use Message and that means that you must sign in - or you can download a texting app if you want to be able to text with non iOS/Non Apple users.

Anyone able to help me? Can you stop iMessages going through an iPad if you dont have it on you or do you have to shut it off yourself ???
