when i turn my ipod touch (third generation) on to charge it, it shows a picture of the charger and an itunes symbol and won't charge. why?

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
