iMac G5 OS X Software update

Do I need a new hard drive for my iMac G5 if I want to get OS X 10.6.0 Snow Leopard. I have OS X 10.5.8 but I can't install the new one which is Snow Leopard. Do I need a new hard drive, if so what kind of hard drive and can it be an external hard drive?

The PowerPC and Intel chips have totally different architectures so there is no way you would ever be able to replace the PPC with an Intel.

Not even if you deside to replace motorboard would that be possible either. There are just so many differences that the Intel motherboard will not fit into the PPC iMac case.

As I said earlier if you need to run 10.6 or greater, you need to replace your Mac with a new one.
