Can one attach both a hard drive and a printer to an Airport Extreme using an USB hub?

I was planning on replacing my 2008 Airport Extreme (AE)with a newer model. I was able to attach my printer with my older AE, but I was not able to attach my hard drive. I see that the newer AE allows one to attach a printer "OR" a hard drive (since there is only one USB port). I am wondering if one uses a USB hub (with more than one USB port) could be used to attach both (hard-drive and printer) to the AE. Thanks.

Airport Extreme-OTHER, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Yes, but make sure that the USB hub is a powered model. More details here:
