Used iBook . HELP!!

Bought my son a used iBook as his first computer and can't even connect to wireless ( tried everything) I know how to connect to wireless but it won't work. Also, how do I set it up as him being the administrator with his own Mac password?

If the computer already is on an Admin level account, you could make another user account and give it Admin permissions & privileges, and even make it the startup account.

Does the computer have a wireless card? In those who do, they can go bad. The card can be separate from the logic board, but even so, can be a bear on last model iBooks to replace.

Some older models don't have a card, or there is a special location to add one; or easiest would be if the settings are not working.

Was an install-restore DVD set included with the computer? These all shipped with the correct discs when new and should be included, as they are original part numbers in the complete retail package. If not, a later yet still supported OS X retail DVD could be used if not too new, and not from another computer's original kit.

What model did he get and where did he buy it from?

A few legitimate resellers who know products well are

able to answer questions and offer help. While a used

one from ebay or other person may be lacking all that.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
