Dec 25, 2013 10:39 AM in response to tcmbeemcby Demo,This is what the Apple Support article says about that error code.
Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
- Use another USB cable.
- Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
- Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
- Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
- Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware
Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.
Confirm your iOS version
If you see the message “The required resource can't be found,” your device may have a newer version of iOS than is available in iTunes. Confirm the iOS version on your device by tapping Settings > General > About. If the version is newer than the latest released iOS version, your device may have a prerelease developer version of iOS.
Quit virtualization software
Quit any virtualization software (such as Parallels or VMware) that’s running on your Mac. Then use the latest version of iTunes to restore your device.

Feb 23, 2016 4:04 PM in response to Demoby erickdraven,I have same issue here, ipad 4 A1459 with 8.1.3 working fine OS, system continues insisting to update to 9.1, worst decision, after accepting update thru wifi ipad rebooted and freezed on apple logo, leaved there for 6 hours nothing happened, soft reseted, power + home buttons, ipad rebooted no logo and now got a black screen, connected to PC with last itunes ver, showed device on recovery mode, clicked restore device, download, file extraction, installation, almost all process completed except for when it shows "waiting for ipad", so i figured - waiting for ipad to reboot right? leaved there until times out and pops up 4014 error msg, after surfing web tried all suggestions tried different cables different computers including a brand new PC laptop and a brand new Mac, same error msg, then i took my brand new paperweight to apple premium store, a week later they told me the main board is damaged; a flash memory or something and i was like - what??? HOW THE **** THAT HAPPENED? I´m not totally convinced of their skills to check the device at least not in that store....I mean really? Does anyone can check itunes update log?
Any suggestions/new use for paperweight are welcomed....(sighs)
