I updated to OS X Mavericks and now my iPhoto is out of date. I am unable to update iPhoto and receive the following error message - "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

What version of iPhoto do you have? If you own any version of iPhoto '11 then log into the App store usint the Apple ID that was used to pruchase it ( or to set up the computer) and look under updates and updae to version 9.5.x If you own an older version of iPhoto then you have to purchase iPhoto '11 in the App store

Apple stopped developing and updating iphoto more than a year ago. You cannot update iphoto from the Updates page of the AppStore in any country.

The only way to update iPhoto now is reinstalling from the Purchases page of the AppStore. And that will only work, if you are running the latest MacOS El Capitan.

But reinstalling requires, that iPhoto is showing in your Purchases history. You can only reinstall AppStore version of iPhoto, not versions purchased on installer DVSs.

See Barney's user tip, if you can update at all:

Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

I have the same message with the iPhoto that came with my new MacBook. Going through iTunes, I found that this update is not available in the United States. From the questioner who wrote in German, it's not available in the EU either. Perhaps we are all dealing with Beta software that should not be offered to unsuspecting users?

That is weird since iPhoto has not shipped with new hardware for well over a year - If it came on a "new" computer go back to the dealer and have then provide a really new one as that one is not new
