Bluetooth normally doesn't work for iPad to iPad communications.

However, if you both have iPad Airs, you can use AirDrop as described here:

You need both Bluetooth and WiFi for AirDrop.

Thanks that works for the iPads. Unfortunately the iPads won't link Bluetooth to my or my wife's phones. Nokia and Samsung

True.  iPad does not use Bluetooth to commuicate to cellular telephones at all (even iPhones), except in the AirDrop case.

Whatever you're trying to share with those phones might be shareable in some other way.

If Apple can't get it right it's wide open for a good developer to make some money doing their job. Wondering if I made the right purchase!!

Bluetooth answers "how" you're trying to do something.

As zelous and I have asked, we wonder if you would share "what" you're trying to do.

I just want to be able to send pictures of my son to the Ipad from my phone via Bluetooth. Seems a pretty reasonable request :) I cannot get the phone or the iPad to link. The phone says it has but doesn't appear. I have tried all ways shown but it looks like the only way will be to email myself and then download. Shame that an easy thing on most tablets should be so hard on an iPad. I'm sure there is a developer out there capable of fixing it

You can't share files over BT between an iPhone and a Samsung, at least not out of the box. You might try loading the app "Bump" on to both devices. I don't know as it works over BT but lots of people seem to like it as a way to transfer pictures. Personally, I find sending them by MMS works fine.

    Best of luck.

There isn't anything to be fixed as this is the way iPhones/iPads have been from the beginning. Bluetooth on these devices has always been meant for playing music, making calls and tethering and connecting keyboards. It's never been meant for sharing photos between devices.

Sure any Android device allows this but I hate Android. Gave them a year of my time and came back to the 5S and Mini.

sharing photos from an apple device to a non apple device

    1. email them

    2. 3rd party app like bump that meg mentioned

    3. import pictures to ur computer from the ipad and load them onto ur other device from the computer
