iTunes stuck on gapless playback determination.

I have the following problem. I have the latest version (11something) of iTunes and I've already tried to reinstall it, but it didn't help.

The problem is that iTunes gets completely frozen and makes computer unresponsive within a minute.

The problem occurred when I added 20+ albums (3.4 gb). And as far as I understand in had added all songs (it seemed at least, but checking folders manually I found that not everything was added and some songs in music folder were grayed out and silent somewhere in the middle) and went on to determining gapless playback info. During this process it got stuck on 94th out of 200 something songs and everything went unresponsive, even clock stopped. The only way was to hard reset the whole thing. After logging back I opened iTunes but display showed the same bar, stuck at the same song exactly. For a first few moments I had control over the program, but not even enough to open preferences. Clicking on canceling the process also didn't help. So i had put the song in question in a different folder and retried. Same thing. Than relocated the whole album. Same thing. Than reinstalled. Same thing. Every time I open iTunes it is determined to determine this gapless thing.

So. What do I do?

Ps. What I added songs I had about 8gb left on hd. So adding it to iTunes should have left me with something around 4 gb. But now that some songs were added and after restart I now have 9.4 gb. The whole music library is about 64gb.

This!

"Try this...

Quit iTunes.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and drag com.apple.iTunes.plist to the desktop.

Relaunch iTunes and let it finish doing the gapless thingy"

It helped me so...

1) remove the album in question from your music folder

2) remove (I think you can actually trash them, but I decided to leave them be) .plist files

3) open iTunes

3.1) agree to terms and rules

4) stop gapless playback determination process AS SOON AS YOU CAN

5) at this point everything should be ok

6) find the album in question in iTunes and delete it with moving files to trash option (just to be safe)

7) relaunch and your gapless playback should run smoothly
