I can't open, uninstall or update my iTunes?

If I open iTunes it freezes my computer. If I try to install an update, it begins to open the installer for about 10 seconds and then it closes and nothing else happens. If I try to uninstall it via Windows Installer on my Control Pannel, I get the error message (translated from Norwegian): "Cannot obtain access from Windows Installer. This can happen if Windows Installer is not installed correctly." ("Får ikke tilgang til tjenesten Windows Installer. Dette kan skje hvis Windows Installer ikke er installert på riktig måte").

I've tried uninstalling a different program and it worked, so it's not Windows Installer there's an issue with, it's iTunes.

I am very stuck. Any ideas as to where to go from here?

Is this a 64-bit system? If so try the following user tip:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows on 64-bit systems
