Unable to update projects and events FCP X 10.1 is not recognizing my SAN disk

What do you mean by hidden folders? Like this:

Final Cut Project - Hidden

Final Cut Events - Hidden

FCP won't see those. Don't know how you updted them before but they won't work. The projects and events need to be in

Final Cut Events

I've found the sometimes if you have project folders inside a folder in Final Cut Projects the application won't see them.

I have exactly the same problems with projects/events that are stored on my Seagate Expansion external Hard drive. Can't update them, it says that the location for the update is not valid. Anyone can help ?

There are no folders at the root level of that drive called Final Cut projects or Final Cut Events. Those are the only folders only at that location on that drive that the application will recognize.

Post a screen shot of the root level of the drive.

My root level is like this. The "Perso" file" didn't existe when I tried to update my project, I just created it to import new media.

Of course, there are events and projets in the folder, but as I said, FCP 10.1 refuse to update them, I have the same error message as the OP...

If you use Update and select the drive and click OK, it should work if the projects and events are ok. If it doesn't work I have no idea.

Close your FCPX first. Second, you have to Create a new folder title Final Cut Events in your external hard drive, then move your events from your "Final Cut Events - Hidden" to your new Final Cut Events folder.

Open your FCPX then update all again.

The problem for is that I don't know how to reverse the events back to hidden. Hope that helps

Same problem here - I have 10.0.9 Projects & Events folders at root level of external hard drive:

But they come up ghosted when I try to update via FCPX 10.1

I tried Pltrainer's workaround, but to no avail. What's going on here?!?!

You do not select the projects and events. You simply select the drive you want to update. That's it.

I tried this work-around to no avail. I get error messages saying there are missing files and things that can't be linked.

What can you do when Final Cut doesn't accept the files you try to update?

Last week I upgraded to FCP 10.1 but found out that this updated version of FCP does not recognize my movie clips or projects on my external hard disks or on the Mac disk. Though the software was supposed to update all my movie clips, I got an error message. Spoke to several people at the Apple store and they don't know how to fix this. I had to uninstall FCP 10.1 and revert to the previous version. Now I am testing my videoclips to make sure they have not been damaged by the process. This is a whole new issue on which I would also appreciate feedback. So right now I have two issues:

1) FCP 10.0.9 has been extremely slow suddenly since the installation of Mavericks.

2) FCP 10.1 doesn't recognize my videoclips and I get an error message when I accept the updating of the videoclips by the software.

I am really stuck right now. Does anyone work with FCP 10.1 and store their clips on hard disks? How to make FCP 10.1 see/read the clips?
