Q: I have no sound thro stereo speakers, IPad and Airplay connected thro earphones, stereo about 15 years old

My son gave me an airport express for Christmas so I could play music (especially Roger Whitaker) through our IPad.  Having followed all the instructions about connecting to present stereo system, thro airphones and playing thro aux on the stereo, there is no sound thro the stereo speakers, just the Ipad. Now I'm new to all this, so is there some help out there. Have a grandson here, but we could not locate page 24 in the setup guide.

    Hey grandpop bryan,

Thanks for the question. Great job so far, we simply need to initiate AirPlay on your iPad to route the sound through your AirPort Express. To do so, follow these steps (the screenshots are of an iPhone, so it will appear different on your iPad):

AirPlay audio content to your Apple TV or AirPort Express

    1. Connect your iOS device and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

    2. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center.

    3. Tap AirPlay. You should now see available AirPlay-enabled devices.

    4. Tap the name of the device you want to AirPlay to, then tap Done. Now when playing audio in the Music or Safari app, it will be streamed to your AirPlay-enabled device.

Note: The images of a TV screen or Speaker icon next to each AirPlay device in the AirPlay menu indicate the type of media content you can stream to that device.
