haswell MBPr 15 Temperature??

Hello,

can someone tell me what temperatures you have (with iStatMenu) when you let your 2,3 i7 work to the maximum? My System runs than around 95 to 99 °C Sometimes 100°C. I think that is to warm but what do other people have in maximum situations?

Thank you very much.

Don't use it on you lap, use it on a flat clear of obstruction surface. I use computers that run hot, my kids game a lot and there are quite a few compute cycles gong on, i have built a "cafatria" type of try that has at least 1/3rd inch of clearance under the machine, thatcafeteria provide 360 degree airflow. you can also look into cooling trays, there are many on line.

That is on the high side, some of the games are CPU/GPU intensive,

you can try a SMC reset to make sure that the fans are repnding properly:

Follow directions for a battery that you should not remove yourself.

Since you have AppleCare, make a Genius bar appointment and have it checked out. (hey you paid for it, take full advantage of it)

It is possible that the temp sensor is not happy. You paid, make it their problem.

i have reed some time ago that Systems can start when it will be to warm to start to throttle the CPU. Do this made an apple too?

I do not know if OSX will throttle the CPU when it gets hot. It will shut it down if the CPU temperature reaches a certain temperature.

CPU throttling will occur when there is no battery detected. That is the only circumstance that I know of.

Ciao.

Yesterday i have try something in iVI and than i found a Setting where i can say the system of iVI that i can use Automatic or 1 to 8 Threads for the Programm. After i have gave the system only 3 or 4 Cores the Macbook runs around 40 to 50 % But the CPU runs over 90°C again. Most around 92 to 93 °C. But the Fans wasnt run on Max. Mostly around 3000 to 4000. I think that must be normal. When the Temsp where to high for the Macbook than the Fans where run to the maximum i think.

At those temperatures (90°c+), the fans should be operating at maximum speed (6200 rpm). I suggest a SMC reset:

If there is no change, an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for an evaluation should be made.
