Why does only one side of my sound work? Headphones and using it in the car, only the right side is working?

because on the right side there is a headphone, the left side is for the microphone.

Because the headphone jack is broken you will need to get your iPhone serviced.

Settings > General > Accessibility > Mono Audio

Is this ON or OFF?

My problem was not the Mono Audio but the setting right below that one. The speakers were turned all the way up on the right. Been driving me crazy for months!!!! I looked everywhere for the "balance" setting thinking that was probably it, never thought to look in the Accesibility section.

I had this problem. It was an issue with the headphone input. By not pushing the jack in fully - just slightly inserting the jack - both right and left headphones work. I have no problems anymore!

This was EXACTLY the problem - so in reading the post above this one first and then THIS post my problem was solved. Not sure how this change happened automatically on my phone but it's fixed now!

thank god I found your post here this problem made me change my iphone once, and today I got the exactly same problem with the new one!!!

I don't know why it automatically changes the balance, thanks a million dude!

2.5 years later, posting the exact same response as another user really isn't beneficial to anyone.

This didn't help me either...I have it in the center of left and right, only right works

Didnt solve anything, ,cleaned headphones, cleaned port, no damage to headphones, just stopped working out of no where. Got the iphone 7 right after thanksgiving, only had them for a little under a month, and they already broke. Don't know what to do.

Nice one.... I remember when I did the set up on my new phone it said something about noise reduction in opposite ear..... this seems to be the cause of problems....my audio balance was all the way over to the right, I centered it and now all wired and wireless headphones are working perfect.
