Apple TV not displaying on 720p projector.

I got a new Apple TV for Christmas. It works great when connected to the living room TV, a 1080p Westinghouse. However it won't work on my BenQ PE8700 projector, which is 720p only.

When I turn it on, the Apple logo shows up, but then the display shows "display not supported". Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution? If not, I guess I'll be returning it.

Thanks!

You may wish to try the following:

Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

Alternatively, try setting the output to 720p while it's connected to your TV then connecting it to the projector.

This is probably happening because your projector is not broadcasting the resolutions it works with.
