I'm having some trouble with iphoto.
Often when I take a color image and click edit, the image immediately becomes black and white. Is this anything I can fix? Or is this because the image is copyrighted in some way?

What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? What is the source of these 'images"? What is the color profile of the image?

version 9.5.1 of iphoto, version 10.9.1 of Mac OS X. These images come from the internet (usually google), and I've had this happen with all colors of images.
Export one of the problem images to the desktop and look at it with preview - use the inspector to see wht the color profile is
For iPhoto the profile must be RGB - sRGB is the prefered
