Try resetting the PRAM.
If that does not help, take it in for diagnosis.

Laptop batteries can fail in a manner that causes them to swell, creating pressure on the trackpad from beneath, causing the symptoms you describe. If you suspect that may be the cause have Apple replace the battery.
