videos are too dark to watch on Macbook pro?

Better late than never right??? I spent MONTHS searching for the solution for this and I FINALLY found it - using System Preferences, go to accessibility. Use slider to adjust contrast. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. Why, oh why has no one clarified this before?
