how to convert ibook to pdf

I have just installed PDF Expert on my IPad and can't figure out how to convert an ibook to a PDF file where I can convert text to speech. I have transferred my entire library to my Mac. I downloaded a free book from the itunes store to my ipad and it should have worked. It did't. Any ideas? Thanks
