Earbuds play/pause controls causing random playback on iPhone 5S.

Hi I have a iPhone 5S and SkullCandy earbuds with Play/Pause button. For some reason the button/jack is faulty causing iPhone to receive false control signals. This makes songs stop/start/skip/forward randomly during use. Is there a way to disable control from earbuds?
