Do I get my ipod touch 5g 32gb replace at apple or target?

I think I might have a defective battery with my ipod touch. I bought it at target about a day ago. Can I go to apple store to get it replaced or go to target? Thanks

An iPod fresh out of the box will have some charge on it, but not much, enough to maintain the battery and start up but not much beyond that. Now that being said, and this is going to sound dumb, please do not take offence. But did you fully charge the battery? It normally takes at least 4 hours for a full charge, although the battery icon will show a full charge within 1 to 2 hours the battery is only about 80% charged in that time. But 15 minutes is a bit short! If you did fully charge the battery here are some usage times that may be of some interest.

I have had an iPod 5 64g for a few months, since upgrading to iOS 7.0.4 this has been my average usage rates, but I do not know if it is the norm: On standby, (iPod on but not in use) 36 to 40 hours. Listening to music from my library 18 - 22 hours easy with the screen mostly off, low to medium volume. 8 to 10 hours surfing the Internet with a strong wifi connection. 6 - 9 hours watching video on lower resolution with a strong wifi connection. (less in both cases if wifi signal is weak or spotty). And gaming drains the life out of the battery in 3 - 4 hours easy! Taking pictures something around 50 to 85 depending on how many with flash. Taking video about 3 to 4 hours. I do turn off anything I'm not using, Bluetooth, wifi, siri, location, auto updating etc. you get the idea, lower screen brightness, etc. C-net has tips for extending battery life, just goggle it. You could try a reset, will not hurt anything may stop battery draining so fast, if you still think it's a bad battery return it and get a new one. Hope this helps you, Good luck.

??? Normally if your planning to return something your go back to the store you made the purchase from, right? I mean if you bought a pair of shoes from Target that didn't work for you, would you try to return them to Walmart? Same goes for your iPod purchase. If you are planning to keep the iPod and going for warranty issues then I would say you would contact Apple. Does this answer your question?

Appleboy12, like Illaass and myself have told you it takes at least 4 hours to completely charge the battery. The battery icon with show a full charge when in fact it is not fully charged. The serial number can be found on your iPod by going to Settings>General>About then scroll down to model, serial number etc. Good luck.

Not really, it's just preference, icon or % whatever float your boat. The battery meter system for the iPod 5 is at best inaccurate an estimate of use more than anything else, if the work load on the battery is light your meter will show a higher %, when your demanding your iPod to work harder, like when gaming the % will drop, stop the game and it will increase... you'll make yourself nuts watching it. The only % to watch is the 20% warning. It's like the low fuel light on your car's gas tank, won't tell you when you run out of gas only that your getting close. The 4 hour charge of a depleted battery is just how Li-ion batteries work. The first 75 80% goes in very easily, within an hour or so, the last 20 - 25% requires more time 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete the charging cycle. Can't say it any other way, it's physics and chemistry 101. Hope this helps, Good luck.
