apple tv error loading content

I keep getting an error on the apple tv when trying to load content from Netflix and iradio. It says error loading content please try again later. However, I do not have this issue accessing netflix with any other device. This problem only started a few weeks ago. Prior to that did not have any issues with Netflix or any apple content on the apple tv.

On the Apple TV, go to Settings, General, Restart.

I too have ATV3 and the same problem "Error content cannot be displayed" this is with a sports app premierleaguepass, i've tried everything, rebooting the ATV and Router, Reset ATV, changed HDMI leads, connected a network cable cat5, reset router, i've tried downgrading the firmware on a mac and a windows lappie, I get more error messages and it wont allow me to do it.

So if there's anybody out there that knows a fix that works please do.

I've been at it for 3 days now for countless hours and no success.

i've now done a full restore on my ipad it's loaded FW 7.1 and i've set the ipad up as new and still get the bloody error message.

i've tried different DNS addys, i've tried connecting the HDMI lead directly to the TV, I usualy run it through an amp.

So that's the ipad formatted, apple tv formatted, the router a complete reset, and all the above, and there's more 'ive forgot about...............oh yeah and I phoned apple, and the guy tells me it's a problem with the app (premierleaguepass) talk about fob you off just hung up on him he obviously hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

so it's day 4 and counting, i wished someone from apple tech was on these forums they seem to duck they're nut when things are going wrong, and don't want to get involved, it's not like we're isolated cases there a quite a few threads on the subject and not an apple rep to be seen.

OK

problem solved, it appears that in my case it was an ip address problem, I have been of late using DCHP although I generally prefer to set my net work up manually.

when setting up address's I usually go for single numbers in the last string sometimes two digits and that's what i've been using all the time in setting up ATV3, I just thought what about trying 3 digits on the last string so I entered 192.168.0.100 and it connected immediately.

why this should be i'll never know but it works and just thankfull it does, and the sloution might just might work for others, i hope so!

I was getting the error randomly as well but was able to resolve it. What I found was that the DNS settings were pointing to my router than my network provider's DNS address.

Try this:

  1. From your router's admin status settings, lookup the primary DNS address
  2. Go to ATV Settings, General, Network
  3. Goto DNS settings and change from Automatic to Manual
  4. If the DNS address is your router, change it to the correct DNS address
  5. Save it and you should be good to go!

Reset and restart only work temporarily for me. I also get the same error message with some other apps I've used like the Smithsonian Channel, PBS, HBO Go and the Radio. They all happen the same way, it will be fine and then all of a sudden you get the error. Restarting/resetting/unplugging power on ATV and router will get it going again, but it always comes back. We stream Netflix without any issues on our PS3.
