I just bought the apple tv. I have had an iPad 2 for a year.

Question

I just bought the apple tv. I have had an iPad 2 for a year.

I've updated everything, rebooted everything, including the router. Several times and in a bunch different orders. I unplugged everything. Plugged in the router and waited for it to boot. turned on apple tv and then ipad. I even turned off and kept off possible competing devices. Though I doubt my android is running interference.

Both devices are connected to the same network. I've checked to make sure that the router was to the recomended settings.

Apple Tv
model: MD199LL/A
iOS: 6.0.2

iPad 2:
Model: MC954LL/A
iOS: 7.0.4

I'm at a complete loss. I am incredibly frustrated!!! The control panel doesn't show the icon, neither does double tapping the home button! What do I do?

And is there a reason you are doing all of that rather than just using it? Experiancing some problem? Maybe it would be a good idea to share some details of that problem if you are expecting help with it...... Just a thought.

ha. wow. I can't believe I forgot the key part of my frustrations. There is no airplay icon on my iPad. I've tried the language trick, I've turned of bluetooth. Essentially I have tried all the suggstions I could find through apple disscussions.
