How do i remove facebook birthdays from my iCal and Contacts?

When I downloaded the upgrade to my iPhone 4, suddenly birthdays from Facebook friends and their information is appearing in my iCal (Mac Book Pro OS X 10.9.1) and in Contacts.

Do I go to Facebook? Settings on my iPhone? Or, do I use iCal Preferences to remove them? I have tried a number of things and none of them work! Help! Thanks.
