Dec 29, 2013 10:08 AM in response to golfcoach78by Studio X,All depends on the codec (compression/decompression) format used along with the frame size/ rate.
For example:
1 hr of ProRes 1920x1080 at 29.97 progressive will yield a 149.5 GB file
1 hr of AVCHD 1920x1080 at 29.97 progressive will yield a 11.8 GB file.
1 hr of DV/NTSC 720x480 at 29.97 interlaced will yield a 14 GB file
Your camera manual should include the recording codec and average file sizes. Whether you can actually do something the material your camera outputs depends on software you use to edit. Some editing software will require the material be transcoded (converted) to another format for editing.
