Video in iPhoto

Video in iPhoto

I have a number of videos taken from video function of still camera that play OK in itunes and in ipads. They appear to be MPEG4 format. I now want to buy a 'proper' video camera, and am looking at a Canon that apparently can offer AVCHD anfd MP4 formats. Are these going to play in Itunes/Quicktime, and be transferable to ipads without hassle?

Any advice on this whole issue gratefully received. Thanks.

Not all AVCHD videos can be imported directly into iPhoto, see this document: Using AVCHD video with iPhoto '11

A note on AVCHD: This format was developed for people who are shooting to edit the material afterwards. If you're shooting to edit, then iMovie or Final Cut are the correct home for this material. If you're not shooting to edit consider using one of the other video formats on your Camera.
