Apologies for the dumb question - we're an Android family but we have a little-used iPad mini in the house too. I think I may have disabled iTunes somehow when I first setup the iPad and now there is no icon of any sort to start it. My son received a gift card for Christmas so I guess we need to re-install iTunes or something to be able to redeem the voucher...?

There should be an icon at the bottom of the screen called "music." That invokes iTunes.

Thanks Barry. That just says "No Music - you can download music from the itunes store" and doesn't allow anything from there...?
Is it significant that the "Music" Icon is Orange/Red?

I have my entire iTunes library (from my MacBook Pro) on my iPad. When I click the music button, iTunes (iOS version) activates.

I was really worried that my son might go and inadvertantly spend money on the iPad so I disabled everything that seemed like he might be able to do that. I think I must need to somehow re-enable iTunes but I have no idea how.
Nor do I as I do not know what you did... :(

Look in Settings->General->Restirctions
Make sure iTunes Store is turned on. This will enable the iTunes icon.
FYI: The Music icon is not the iTunes store on an iPad. Its only the music library.
At the risk of splitting hairs, the music icon starts iTunes (iOS version). The store is accessed from one of the screens in the application.

Thanks Phil0124 - I'll give it a try. That was the sort of thing I assumed I'd done.
That was exactly what it was. I find the interface on the iPad very strange so having to "long-touch" on the menu item to change it didn't seem obvious.

No. in iOS there are 2 separate icons, its always been this way.
The Music icon is just your Music Library, and iTunes Radio. Nothing else is in there.
The Itunes Store icon opens the Store where you can access the Music, Movies, TV Shows and other sections to buy and download media.
2 different icons for 2 different Apps.
