Way to transfer photos from a windows formatted nano to my macbook pro?

I have an iPod nano 4G, and it is synced to my old windows laptop, (which is out of commission).

When i open up photos on the device itself, i can see all the pictures clear as day, some of which are actually from my old iphone as well. Now that i have my mac im trying to move these photos and when i open itunes, iphoto, icapture, it only sees the 12-13 videos actually taken with the ipod itself. I would like to be able to get these photos off before i finish moving the music over and reformatting the ipod. Please help 🙂
