Q: how do i back up or extract my text messages, from my iphone 5s, to icloud?!!!

iCoud will not sync text messages.  They are, by default, included in your iPhone backup, whether you are backing up to iCoud or to your computer using iTunes, and can be restored by restoring the entire backup.  If you want to extract them and archive them separately, you would need to use 3rd party software, such as Touch Copy or similar.
