Hi, I got an iPhone 4S second hand from a friend, so I got a new SIM card and it isnt working, its coming up with "SIM not valid".
I dont know if it is locked to Telstra and not working becasue my SIM card is Optus, what do i do?

Insert the correct SIM card.
The device is carrier locked.
Only the carrier to whom it is locked can authorize it's unlocking.
Ask this "friend" which carrier it is locked to.
Then either switch your service to that carrier or contact them to inquire about their unlocking policy and if you qualify. Most likely you do not.
